Background
I was born in Nottingham in June 1964. After several unsuccessful careers a chance visit to St. Ives while on a short holiday in Cornwall launched the start of a new, more satisfying career. It was seeing the work of Barbara Hepworth for the first time that kindled my creativity towards abstract sculpture. I now live in St. Ives and have a studio at the Penwith Society of Artists.
My work
My work is very much in the St. Ives tradition and my style is continuously developing. I prefer to sculpt in traditional materials such as bronze, limestone and marble because I enjoy working with them and also they bestow a more timeless quality to finished works. Many of my sculptures, particularly the larger ones, are conceived with the idea that they should also be experienced by touch, this means that anyone with visual impairment can also enjoy a work of art, where the sense of touch is so vital.
Unlike conceptual art, if you like my work it needs no other interpretation.

Galleries
If you visit St. Ives, the principal gallery showing my work is the Porthminster Gallery, it is also regularly exhibited at the Penwith Society of Artists and at the Galerie Pelar sculpture garden in Lelant. There is also a selection of sculptures on rotation in my friends watch and clock shop on Tregenna Hill.
Although my studio is not open to the public, except during the annual St. Ives Festival in September, I am happy to arrange an appointment to meet anyone interested in my work. I have included a list of galleries that have either shown, or are currently showing my work:

Ambitions
In addition to selling through galleries, as I have done for the past 5 years, I am hoping this website will be of interest to clients who may wish to deal directly with "the artist", for either sales or commissions. I am also very keen on taking part in initiatives that exhibit sculptures in places such as libraries, schools and public collections. In the longer term I would like to have a permanent place in which to exhibit my work.
